Edwin Williams, bassist extraordinaire, is a native of Wilmington, NC. He was introduced to music at an early age by his father, guitarist Melvin Williams, Sr. At the age of eight, Edwin was touring and performing throughout the southern US with his father's gospel group.

Edwin studied music at The Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA and studied privately with bassist, Junee Booth.  An accomplished acoustic and electric bassist, Edwin has performed extensively overseas and nationally with major Jazz R&B artists. Some of the artists Edwin has performed with includes: jazz percussionist Joe Chambers & MBoom, Paul Mitchell, Nancee Keller, Freddie Cole, Joe Zuwinlu; Beatles Songwriter Roy Lee Johnson, Michael Henderson, Johnny Taylor, Ollie Woodson, Marvin Sease, Mary Wells and many more... 

He’s performed annually in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra production of “A Soulful Christmas Celebration.”

Edwin was also featured bassist with the John Robertson Trio at the world renowned Dante’s Down the Hatch Jazz club in Atlanta, Georgia for over 23+ years.

Career Highlights:

2021.  Appeared in Coming 2 America starring Eddie Murphy as a member in the Sexual Chocolate Band

2016.  Founded Jazz Matters, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization promoting the art of jazz with the goal to preserve a musical culture, tradition & art form … keeping Jazz alive.

2016. Produced the first the annual Jazz Matters At The Wren’s Nest outdoor summer concert series in Atlanta, GA

2015.  Released first solo project Chill With Me
